FC NELSON CLUB POLICY DOCUMENTS

FC Nelson is committed to implementing best practice to ensure the wellbeing of all members, supporters and participants, and to ensure that their involvement in play, active recreation and sport is kept fun, safe and inclusive.

Our Committee Policies outline how the Club Committee will deliver the purposes and aims of the FC Nelson Constitution to all members, within the guidelines and frameworks outlined by New Zealand Football and in respect to the requirements of New Zealand law.

Our Breaking Down Barriers Fund compliments our culture of reducing the financial barriers to participation in football and provides avenues of support for those within our community who need additional financial assistance to participate.

Our Codes of Conduct outlines the expectations of behaviour for all FC Nelson club members, volunteers and supporters, as well as visiting teams and their supporters, which align to Sport NZ, and NZ Football equivalent codes.

These are living documents that will be updated as needed to reflect legislative and best practice changes that are required by FC Nelson, as well as feedback and consultation relating to the practical experience of members within the play, active recreation and competitive sport environment.

As part of the Incorporated Societies Act changes coming into effect in 2026, our club has reviewed its constitution and made some minor updates to ensure compliance and alignment with best practices. These proposed changes were presented for approval at our AGM, which was held at the end of February. The changes were approved, and now we seek consultation from our members before the committee gives their final approval in May.

Working With Children

FC Nelson's position statement regarding working with children...

FC Nelson, Mainland Football and NZ Football are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable football environment for all.

Mainland Football, its Regional Associations and Clubs recognise our responsibility to lead and encourage safe practices to ensure the welfare and best interests of children and vulnerable adults.

To support the football system in this commitment we’ve developed the Guidelines for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults and the supporting NZF Police Vetting System.
