Merry Christmas
Wow, what a year!!
Chatham Cup runs, Southern League Playoffs, huge crowds, dominating Junior and Youth teams, best-ever performances in regional and national tournaments and so many players having fun on the pitch.Three players who played in our development teams have signed professional contracts with the Phoenix.
Success and fun, though - the club has a diverse mix of cultures, languages, and emotions. How lucky are we?
We have just successfully achieved the status of Licenced Club and completed the OFC/NZF Xero Together Club Support Programme - both massive achievements.
We can confirm that Davor Tavich will be our Men's First Team club coach and our new Director of Football. Paul Brydon will take on the role of our Development team coach. Both will work together to create a seamless pathway for our young and aspiring players.
Our new Football Development Officer, Manual Montagna, will take over the Academy, WPX and community football environments and bring his wonderful attributes to organising the functional parts of the club.
We now have a fantastic General Manager in Nicole Cooley.
We do say goodbye to Tj, for now, and wish him well on life's journey. He has been such an important part of our club. As are the many volunteers and coaches who give up so much time and energy for the club. A special thank you to you. And thanks again to all of our wonderful partners, funders and sponsors, we are so lucky to have your support.
All the very best to all the clubs and players across the region. I hope everyone has a wonderful festive break. Keep off the pies and beers, though, as 2025 is going to be fun.
Lastly, if I have one Christmas wish, then it would be for an FC Nelson community hub before the season starts... sometimes wishes do come true.
This is us - One Club, One Community!
Happy football!
